This committee is a combination of the previous Facilities Management Safety Committee and the Auxiliary Services Safety Committee. This committee has replaced the two committees to form one. The membership consists of representatives of both Dining Services and Facilities Management Employees that are selected by the various union stewards.

This committee is responsible for:

  • a. Reviewing on-the-job accident and injury reports to determine what can be learned from those incidents about improving safety behavior.
  • b. Making recommendations to Coordinator/ESS for safety training topics and issues:
    • i. New programs;
    • ii. Updated or revised programs.
  • c. Reviewing proposed safety training programs and safety training materials and providing feedback to the training program originator.
  • d. Making recommendations to ESS for ways to communicate safety information to staff.
  • e. Helping to present safety information to staff work groups.
  • f. Making recommendations to ESS on steps that can be taken to reinforce and promote safe job behaviors.
  • g. Making recommendations for an effective safety recognition program that is focused on recognizing safe behaviors and positive effort to promote a safe work environment.
